Redneck Raised Gardening

My friend Ron Watkins sent me this email:

I have 3 “bags” of tomatoes now growing – Better Boy, Early Girl and two types of Heirlooms….

“you know you’re a redneck gardener when you turn the bag of compost sideways to create a raised garden”

Interesting – I was pulling what I thought were “weeds” out of my compost pit – and pulled up a bunch of carrots and new potatoes !!! I laughed my tail off…..

P.S.

In the heat of July and August, these may not do well because they will literally cook in these bags. But to start with these will grow just fine. As it gets warm, move these to an area of your yard where they will get afternoon shade.
